Common Questions
Is the data confidential?
YES – the only information that can be used to
identify the client is your own firm’s reference
that you choose to allocate. There are no names, addresses
or postcodes that can be used to identify a client.
What will the data be used for?
For statistical purposes only to generate comparisons
against similar trades and businesses.
I cannot do a comparison – why not?
There needs to be five or more statistics for businesses
in any one category before you are able to produce a
report.
Why do I need to “adjust”
figures for limited companies?
This software is unique in that it enables true comparisons
to be made with sole traders and partnerships. For a
limited company it is necessary to adjust the net profit
to ignore expenses that would not be incurred by unincorporated
businesses. Therefore directors remuneration of the
proprietor directors, together with Employers National
Insurance and Company Pension Contributions needs to
be “added back”.
As an example assume there are two companies with totally
different policies with regard to extraction of funds.

5,000 |
Both companies have made 50,000 profit but the results
per accounts would not show that. Therefore adjusting
for proprietors salaries and NI would then have both
companies showing the same profit, and this would be
comparable to a sole trader/partnership.
